Announcing our 65th vehicle.....an Abbot Downing Stagecoach!

An amazing addition to the museum's already world-class collection!

While our amazing collection has more than tripled from 21 to 65 vehicles in the last 23 years, finding floor space has proven to be a challenge as we have grown!  Even so, we continue to accept historic vehicles and artifacts. This newest addition, the Abbot Downing Stagecoach, is a perfect example of historic, beautiful craftsmanship! This amazing, hand-painted coach will certainly become a crowd favorite and will be enjoyed by our many visitors!

The Abbot-Downing Stagecoach, with its stunning appearance, fascinated visitors to the Medicine Creek Winery for many years before being donated to us in October of 2025. The new vehicle is a Western Concord Coach and would have been used back in the day for long-distance transportation over the rugged trails of the Western frontier!

Abbot-Downing was a popular coach and carriage maker out of Concord, New Hampshire, operating from 1813 to around the 1930s. Their most famous product was the Concord Coach. You may remember these coaches as the Wells Fargo coaches! Abbot-Downing widely focused on large passenger vehicles, like stagecoaches, streetcars, and more. They also made ambulances for the Union effort during the Civil War.

Our new stagecoach has spent a few weeks being pampered by Northwest Carriage Museum curator, Jerry Bowman, who has been giving it a thorough cleaning and oiling! It is now ready to shine in our historic collection! Stop into the museum soon to step back in time and see its newest resident in person! You do not want to miss this beautiful coach! We are open 10 am-4 pm daily! We hope to see you soon!
