Education Program

Northwest Carriage MuseumOur education program introduces students to life at the turn of the century. We begin with a tour of the museum and the carriages, explaining what transportation was like back in the “olden days”. Students get the opportunity to dress in period costumes and climb into the Democrat Wagon.

A popular add-on to our field trips is Children’s Chores/Making Butter. Students learn how to churn their own butter and learn about chores such as carding wool and doing the laundry. They then get to taste their own hand churned butter. This add on to our regular education program is about 30 minutes.

The program is geared to grades 1-4, and lasts approximately 1-1/2 hours. The field trips are offered free of charge.
